This papers concentrates on a geographical area, namely medieval Germany, where various figures of mystic in the feminine flourished between XIIth and XIVth centuries. The present study retained four ot them, Hildegard of Bingen, Elisabeth of Schönau, Mechthild of Magdeburg and Margaretha Ebner, but this restricted sample does not reflect any arbitrary power: on one hand, beyond their differences of condition, these four women are indeed at the same moment representative of central problems in the question of relationship between mystic women and the Book.
