International audienceFrance, the first continental power in the aftermath of World War I, took an active part in establishing the borders of Europe, and particularly those of East Central Europe, from which depended in part the configuration of the future anti-German system of reverses alliances. The many difficulties of boundary definitions were increased in the case of Bessarabia, where competed two potential allies, "white" Russia and Greater Romania.
