Ageing in a Detached House: Mobility and Residential Embeddedness of the Elderly in Suburban Spaces of Metropolitan Areas After showing a relative stability in the spatial distribution of the retired people in three surburban metropolitan areas - Paris, Aix-Marseille and Toulouse - this article examines the drivers behind this still important periurban attractiveness. A qualitative analysis enables the authors to underline the tactics and strategies of the retired to remain as long as possible in their living environment.
