Abstract

In this paper we deal with Russian zdes', tut and tam, and French ici, là and là-bas. The main questions are to determine whether these lexemes are equivalent or not and whether they are deictic or anaphoric. Zdes' and ici indicate the space where the speaker or / and the addressee are at the time of the enunciation; zdes' can be deictic or anaphoric, but ici is very rarely an anaphoric. Tut as a deictic denotes a place very near to the speaker or the addressee, and concerns only one of them. Tut also expresses temporal relations. This lexeme is often used as an anaphoric, like French là, which is the favorite translation for anaphoric tut.
