International audienceThis article studies the ambivalency of the relationships between Papua-New-Guinea and Australia, by analyzing successively their inequal historical links (1st part), the continuity of the latter after the independency (2nd part), and the mechanisms of the dependency, especially at their economic and political levels (3rd part). The social structures of the former Australian colony are analyzed, in particular in relation to the questions of the access to land and to the expansion of the mining sector penetrated by the foreign capital, around which the interests of the states and the transnational firms, on the one hand, and those of the PNG people, on the other hand, are clashing.Le présent article interroge l'ambivale...
