: Managing supply chain uncertainties : A case study in the IT industry

International audienceThis research aims at understanding how companies make changes in the way they plan their operations when they have to deal with an uncertain environment, especially when demand becomes unpredictable. Looking at a case study in the IT industry, we try to explain what actions the company takes in order to adapt itself to market variability, and more particularly, we focus on the evolution of the planning system in a crisis context. The results of this research show that the management of the resources coupled with a total redesign of the supply chain are substitutes to common planning tools in order to ensure the perpetuity of the company in a strongly evolutionary context.Cet article cherche à évaluer dans quelle mesure les entreprises procèdent à des changements dans leur façon de planifier leurs opérations lorsqu'elles sont amenées à évoluer dans des environnements incertains, et en particulier lorsque la demande devient imprévisible. Sur la base d'une étude de cas menée dans le secteur informatique, nous cherchons à montrer quels moyens l'entreprise met en place pour s'adapter à la variabilité des marchés, et nous nous interrogeons particulièrement sur l'évolution des systèmes de planification. Les résultats de l'étude montrent que la gestion des ressources couplée à une totale reconfiguration de la supply chain se substitue aux outils de planification classiques afin de pouvoir assurer la pérennité de l'entreprise dans un contexte fortement évolutif
