International audienceStarting from a corpus made up of forty portraits extracted from the daily newspaper Le Monde, this article shows that the expression of reference does not conform to the predictions of the Accessibility Theory or the Centering Theory. Following certain authors, we suggest that the referential cohesion is conditioned by the kind of text. The inventory and the enumeration of SN reference frames indeed make it possible to distinguish, n the base of their grammatical and lexical material, two types of chains, in which the units respect particular principles of alternation.
