Legitimating an Andean shamanic ritual through historical narrative (Cusco, Peru). In the anonymous work Atahualpa's Death, created during the 16th century, an implicit reference is made to the shamanic observances that were in use at that time. Nowadays, an extract of this text can be seen to have therapeutic, symbolic and politic functions for shamans, who have contributed to spreading it all over the Andes. It justifies the mesa ritual during which the practitioner convokes and incorporates the spirits of the mountains and the earth : he gives them leave to speak as they did in the past.Dans La mort d'Atahualpa, œuvre anonyme du XVIe siècle, il est implicitement fait référence aux pratiques chamaniques de l'époque.
