International audienceThis article aims at understanding why teachers and education advisors (conseillers principaux d'éducation (CPE) in French) in middle schools are reluctant to cooperate in the regulation of the classroom disorder and what sorts of difficulties they face. This research exploits three surveys: one is qualitative and based on interviews with teachers; the other two are quantitative, with one based on questionnaires filled in by pupils, and one being a list by CPE of classroom exclusions.We analyze the conflicts between reinforced law statements and discipline practices which are hard to change.
