Città ottomane nel XIX secolo

International audienceThis contribution studies transformations in the major cities of the Ottoman Empire during the 19th century in a number of administrative, legal, economic and social domains. To understand how this occurred, we have chosen to analyze how this is expressed concretely through their impact on the spatial organization at three different levels: the designation of cities hierarchically within their territory, the displacement of social groups and of economic activities within urban spaces, and the transformation of architectural and urban structures. This analysis shows that, even though the three levels are closely intertwined, the lowest levels are incapable of impacting the other in any way.Cette contribution examine les mutations des grandes villes de l'Empire ottoman au cours du XIXe siècle. Elles touchent de multiples domaines administratifs, juridiques, économiques et sociaux. Pour en rendre compte, on a choisi d'analyser leur expression concrète à travers leurs effets sur l'organisation de l'espace, cela à trois échelles différentes : depuis l'inscription hiérarchisée des villes dans leurs territoires jusqu'aux mouvements des groupes sociaux et des activités économiques au sein de espaces urbains en passant par les transformations des formes architecturales et urbaines. Cette analyse montre que si ces trois échelles sont étroitement liées, les plus petites ne déterminent en aucun cas les autres.Questo contributo esamina le mutazioni delle grande città dell'Impero ottomano nell'Ottocento. Toccano vari campi amministrativi, giuridici, economici e sociali. Per renderne conto, abbiamo scelto di analizzare la loro espressione concreta attraverso i loro effetti sull'organizzazione dello spazio, a tre scale diverse : dall'iscrizione gerarchizzata delle città nei loro territori ai movimenti dei gruppi sociali e delle attività economiche dentro delle zone urbane, passando per le trasformazioni delle forme architettoniche e urbane.
