Mathematics teachers in preservice teachers' metaphors

International audienceThis study explored preservice mathematics teachers' beliefs about mathematics teachers through asking them about their metaphors for mathematics teachers. Preservice teachers' (N=249) metaphors and explanations for mathematics teacher were analysed considering the categorizations developed for the NorBa-TM project based on the extended framework of Beijaard and colleagues (2000). Most of the preservice teachers described mathematics teachers as didactics expert and through their personalities. The findings are discussed and implications for field of mathematics teacher education are presented
