On 7 May 1998, two small cornetfish (319 and 345 mm total length) were taken from the cooling water screenwell in front of the circulating water gates at the former Southern California Edison\u27s Huntington Beach Generating Station (now AES Huntington Beach) during a routine fouling control operation. They were initially thought to be the reef cornetfish, Fistularia commersonii; however, critical examination indicated that these two specimens are the Pacific cornetfish, Fistularia corneta Gilbert and Starks 1904, a new addition to the California fauna
