Challenges in college completion, costs and value of a college degree is a podcast interview with Andrew Kelly, director of the Center on Higher Education Reform and a resident scholar in education policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). Kelly discusses how the changing focus on attainment will be a cultural shift, but productive in motivating the higher education enterprise toward measuring outcomes. Kelly advocates for innovative uses of technology and teaching, including competency based education to help with issues of remediation. Kelly also advocates for policies that motivate market competition amongst institutions. Lastly, Kelly asserts the importance of higher education as a transparent industry that enables informed choices, particularly the need for students and families to identify lower cost high quality education options.
