Twenty-one years ago, South Africa finally abolished its inhuman system of Apartheid, which was based on strict racial segregation and discriminating inequality amongst population groups. The country opened up for the first national elections for each South African inhabitant of age entitled to vote. Hence, proceedings as a sovereign, democratic and prosperous state, envisioning a non-racist and non-sexist society as desired in the South African Constitution are underway. Nevertheless, South Africa still faces many hindrances on its way to create a societal democratic model where diversity is valued, accepted, and embraced as a positive potential, and not considered as a threat.
