Identity is neither simple nor static, and in many ways the multiplicity of identity that this paper will consider is not in itself either novel or controversial. Who I am as a writer, academic, sister, teacher, learner is as complex as who you are as a reader and everything else that you may be. Our everyday roles and experiences contribute to the complex nature of our identity, and we are both defined by (and define ourselves according to)the actions, choices, beliefs and emotions that we either choose or deny. In these respects it seems likely that what we might calla digital identity would merely add to the multiplicity of our existing complex picture of ourselves.
