It is among Florida\u27s northernmost cities, and is one of the principal municipalities comprising Greater Jacksonville. The town schoolhouse was built in 1886. The building has many of the emblishments of a prosperous community. The structure is in a National Historic District that is on the National Register of Historic Places.
