A comparison of educational, social, and behavioral attitudes in children with hearing impairments, their parents and teachers

Includes bibliographical references (pages [28]-29)This study examined the validity of purported problems of children with hearing impairments. It also assessed the degree of concordance among children with hearing impairments, their parents and teachers with regard to educational, social, and behavioral issues. Ten children, between the ages of 8 and 12 years, with documented sensorineural hearing loss were interviewed directly with regard to these issues. Responses to items on a survey developed for this study were gathered through a structured interview process. Paper and pencil companion surveys for parents and teachers were completed independently. Results did not support the presence of problems in educational, social, or behavioral domains for children with hearing impairments, within this sample.
