To study the current trend of P. N. G. society I examined the urbanization of this country. From the immigrants of two selected settlements I obtaind information through a questionnaire covering their immigration process, their urban settlement life and the relation to their mother villages. Material from government offices and reserch institutions was also used. The followings are a summary of the results.1) Both immigrants groups in urban settlements and resident groups in urban villages have a strong feeling of "wantok" which means unity with relatives, fellow villagers and people who speak the same language, and the immigrants have a desire to return their home villages in the future.2) The residents in urban villagers have strong polit...
