Ranunculus parnassiifolius L. is an orophilous plant distributed throughout Central and Southwestern Europe (Cantabrian Mountains, Pyrenees and Alps), where at least five taxa have traditionally been recognized. However, the latest researches in this polyploid complex have shown the complexity of its evolutionary history.
