Dārza ābele ir viena no nozīmīgākajām augļkultūrām Eiropā un arī Latvijā. Kraupis, ko izraisa patogēnā sēne, nodara lielus zaudējumus ražai komerciālajos dārzos, tāpēc selekcijai tiek meklētas jaunas pazīmes, kas nodrošinātu izturību pret kraupi. Līdz šīm atklātie rezistences gēni pilnībā neizskaidro rezistences mehānismus, bet jaunākie pētījumi rāda, ka mikroRNS ir būtiska ietekme uz rezistenci. Darba mērķis ir identificēt un raksturot ābeļu rezistences reakcijā pret kraupja infekciju potenciāli iesaistītās miRNS. Kā galvenās metodes tika izmantotas mRNS un miRNS izdalīšana un qPCR reakcijas, un relatīvās ekspresijas noteikšana.
