Viena no cilvēces šī gadsimta aktuālākām problēmām ir energoresursu patēriņa problēma. Causpīdīgie vadošie oksīdi (TCO) ir materiāls, kas nepieciešams saules bateriju, kā arī tādu ierīču kā plazmas un šķidro kristālu displeji ražošanai. Tādēļ ir svarīgi radīt kvalitatīvu, bet tajā pašā laikā lētu TCO materiālu. Iespējama alternatīva patlaban populāram, bet dārgam TCO uz ar alvu leģēta indija oksīda pamata (ITO) ir ZnO:Al (ZAO) plānas kārtiņas. Šā darba galvenais mērķis ir ZAO plāno kārtiņu ar pietiekamām optiskām un elektriskām īpašībām uzputināšanas tehnoloģijas izstrādāšana, izmantojot līdzstrāvas magnetronu uzputināšanas metodi, ar turpmāko iespēju pārnest šo tehnoloģiju izmantošanai masu ražošanā.
