In the presence of H(2)O(2) the epoxidation of alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones catalyzed by quaternary ammonium heteropolyphosphatotungstate was Studied. The factors such as different solvents, reaction temperature, the catalyst amount, reaction time, and the substrate concentration were investigated. It was found that the epoxidation of alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones was easily performed in this catalytic system. Under the optimized reaction conditions an epoxy-4-methyl-3-penten-2-one yield of 87% was obtained
