Structure and luminescence properties of the tetradentate beta-diketonate-europium(III) complexes

The luminescence properties of Eu3+ complexes with a series of tetradentate beta-diketones were compared and it was found that the Eu3+ complexes of bis(beta-diketonyl)-o-terphenyl type ligands have stronger luminescence. The crystal structure determination of the Eu3+ complex with 4,4"-bis(4,4,4-trifluoro-1,3-dioxobutyl)-o-terphenyl (H(2)btbt) showed that the complex is dinuclear having a unique cage structure
