The objective of this study is about the traffic congestion at Khartoum centre. This study is specifically concentrated on the area surrounded from the north by the Blue Nile and Railway line at the south, Alsonott forest from the south west and the white Nile from the west. There are various human activities in this area due to its nature (Government Ministries – Hospitals – Universities – Schools). It contains the biggest transportation station centre all over the capital. All that mentioned above leads to make this area more attractive to the people, and that guide to many traffic congestions in that part of Khartoum and make it more crowded all the day. The aim of this study is to find an urgent solution to this problem, that faces everyone living in Khartoum, and to propose how to overcome the deterioration that occurred during that last decade. The road design capacity remained unchanged since the era of the colonist. On the other hand there is a rapid increase in population as well as vehicles imported from aboard. The study presents suggestions that will be taken as solutions, which need full support from government and other parties (engineers, public) to be accomplished. The study recommended the urgent action needed to solve this problem
