The objectives of this study are to assess the effect of pregnancy (in the third trimester) and pregnancy complicated by hypertension on renal function in Sudanese pregnant women. The study was carried out utilizing 83 women, including 30 non-pregnant women and unmarried (control), 30 pregnant women at the third trimester, and 23 women with pregnancy complicated by hypertension. Their ages ranged from 17- 38 years. Serum was analyzed for creatinine, urea, uric acid, albumin, calcium, sodium, and potassium. The group of normal pregnant women showed significantly (P< 0.05) decreased concentrations of, creatinine, urea, albumin, and calcium, compared to the non-pregnant women.
