Tuberculosis presents one of the major problems in Sudan; the pool of infection was restricted in a few parts such as, Eastern Sudan, Blue Nile, Upper Nile and a few parts of Gezira and Khartoum. In Sudan, the total number of tuberculosis smear posive cases treated up to June, 1998were 34,077 and total for all cases was 66,897
