Blood Parasites From Two Lizards’ Species (Mabuya striata, and Mobuya quinquetaeniatus) And The Toad (Bufo regularis.) From Khartoum State

1 Table, 2 Figures, 9 Plates.Reptiles and amphibian may harbour a variety of different species of blood parasites, thus there is a great need to identify those parasites in order to know their zoonoses importance. The present study was conducted to survey and identify of different blood parasites in two lizards’ species (Mabuya striata, Mobuya quinquetaeniatus) and toad (Bufo regularis) according to microscopic diagnosis. The samples were collected from two locations in Khartoum state; Tuti Island which lies in the union of the Blue and the White Nile and Jebel Awlyia area near the White Nile in Khartoum south. The microscopic diagnosis detected Sauroleishmania spp amastigotes in 61.53% of lizard Mabuya striata, and in 13.33% of toad Bufo regularis, Haemogregina spp in 33.33% of Bufo regularis, and in 7.69% of Mabuya striata, the Microfilaria spp was detected in all lizards specimens of species Mobuya quinquetaeniatus, and Trypanosoma spp was detected in only one specimens of toad Bufo regularis. The study reported the detection of Haemogregina spp and Microfilaria spp for the first time in the Sudan in lizard Mabuya striata. This study showed that the toad Bufo regularis harbour more diversified parasitic funa compared to the lizard. Identifying of the parasites that invade non human hosts should be of great significance, as there is steadily increasing threat of recent zoonotic diseases
