Rural tourism in Europe.

Tourism is a complex, composite industry involving not only disparate economic agents, but also local communities and diverse environmental interests. The successful development of tourism in a manner that satisfies most people requires the active cooperation of many parties. Hence the analysis of (rural) tourism requires a review of the actions and interactions of many stakeholders. The papers which follow in this special issue are based on an analysis of the development of rural tourism in six European countries
