International audienceBoth stake and money ressource, urban land is nowdays inevitable in order to understand the dynamics and mutations which create the african cities. Through the example of Nouakchott, the mauritanian capital, this article presents actors' strategies, networks and links between politics and urbanisation. Created in 1957, Nouakchott now shelters one million inhabitants. In this part of Sahara, urban sprawl pressed on space and leaded to a general anarchy. Authorities have intented to control urbanization, notably by controling the land access. Several laws have been published but, actually, they are raped frequently. The inhabitants know this heavy legislation but they also learnt how to infringe it, following a few ways ...
