The chapter studies the lexical borrowing pattern in Kali'na, a Cariban language of French Guiana. It presents its history and contact languages, giving insights into cultural and social history of the language. The study is based on lexical data containing a list of 1500 meanings. It provides informations about the source language, the number and kind, the semantic word class, the semantic field and the integration of the loanwords. It is a part of a project based on 41 languages from around the world.
