This work deals with spatial appropriation processes through the study of Cuban-American settlements and insertions in the Miami metropolitan area since the Cuban revolution. With a political, cultural and social approach to geography, this study tries to demonstrate that the urban change and economical development of Miami are linked to the Cuban migration. The juridical conditions of that migration and its exceptional geopolitical context (despite the end of the cold war) are essential elements of the study. This study of Miami focuses, though a multilevel scale analysis, on power relations and circulation modalities, which create territories.
