Abstract: A new linear characteristic discrete ordinates LCDSN - method for solving the transport equation is proposed. The method is consider on example of two-dimensional X-Y geometry. This method is constructed taking account of decomposition of a cell into subdomains by characteristics leaving from their vertices. In each of subdomains a system of five equations is given, which consists of three exact balance relations and two additional. Linear and parabolic approximations of solution on the boundary of a cell are considered. This method is conservative and it has higher-order approximation then CDSN - method.
