A method for giving quantum mechanical meaning to particle-like (soliton) classical solutions is described in an attempt to relate particle-like solutions of classical nonlinear field theory to physical hadrons. The method uses the familiar canonical Hilbert space formalism of quantum mechanics and has been applied to the quantum mechanical interpretation of both static and time- dependent classical soliton solutions.
