This report deals with a statistical study of malignant tumors based on 467 consecutive autopsy materials during the recent five years and on 186 biopsy materials of the malignant tumors at the Department of Pathology, Sapporo University of Medicine. The data were compared with those in the previous reports in Japan and other countries. 1) Of the 497 necropsy cases, the malignant tumors were 28.3% and the carcinoma 21.9%. These percentages were much higher than those in the previous reports in Japan. and were apparently similar to those in the recent reports in Europe. 2) The data also indicated a remarkable increase of cancer of the lung, prostate, and pancreas in Japan, which coincides with the recent tendency in other countries. 3) In ou...
