The classical Hollywood cinema had a strange relationship with the representation of the body in pain. Violence, death and, especially, the corops is basically avoided. Nevertheless, it is by no means absent. A rhetoric of elipsis and limits is easy to analyze in the hrror film. This text deals with the representatin of corpses in one of the most obscure and dark films of the 1940s, namely, The body snatcher (produced by Val Lewton and directed by Robert Wise, 1945
