L'ostéosarcome représente 4% des cancers de l'enfant. Le taux de survie est passé de 20 % dans les années 1970 à plus 70 % actuellement dans les formes non métastatiques. Ces progrès sont dus à la démonstration de la chimio-sensibilit é de cette tumeur, aux progrès de la chirurgie conservatrice et à une meilleure connaissance des facteurs pronostiques. Ceux-ci reposent essentiellement sur l'analyse anatomopathologique de la réponse à la chimiothérapie néoadjuvante (grading de Huvos).
