Rice grain yield of non-photo sensitive glutanous and semi-dwarf gene RD6

The study on the yield of 4 lines of glutinous RD 6 (photoperiod sensitive tall (Hd1Hd1Sd1Sd1); photoperiod sensitive semi-dwarf (Hd1Hd1sd1sd1),non-photoperiod sensitive tall (hd1hd1Sd1Sd1) and non-photoperiod sensitive semi-dwarf (hd1hd1sd1sd1), was conducted during the rice paddy season of 2008 in Maejo University (Chiang Mai province) using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 3 replications. The 4 lines consisted of F3 generation resulting from a cross between BC4F1-51-501-6211-2255 which contained the genotype Hd1hd1Sd1Sd1 that resulted from the “Project on Glutinous Rice Improvement of RD6 for Non-Photoperiod Sensitivity by Molecular Marker-Assisted Backcrossing for Off-Season Planting”, and BC3F1-127-412-2630 with genotype Hd1Hd1Sd1sd1 from the “Project on Glutinous Rice Improvement of RD6 for Semi-Dwarf Plant Height by Molecular Marker-Assisted Backcrossing”. Results showed that yield and important agronomic traits of the 4 lines did not show any significant difference in statistics except in number of days to flowering and plant height both of which showed significant difference. The number of days to flower of photo-sensitive tall plants (Hd1Hd1Sd1Sd1) and photosensitive semi-dwarf plants (Hd1Hd1sd1sd1), were greater than non-photosensitive tall plants (hd1hd1Sd1Sd1) and nonphotosensitive semi-dwarf plants (hd1hd1sd1sd1). As for plant height, photo-sensitive tall plants (Hd1Hd1Sd1Sd1) had higher values than non-photosensitive tall plants (hd1hd1Sd1Sd1), and height of both lines were much higher than photosensitive semi-dwarf plants (Hd1Hd1sd1sd1) and nonphotosensitive semi-dwarf plants (hd1hd1sd1sd1)
