Comparing rice cropping system between 2 crops/year and 3 crops/year

Rice cropping system in irrigated area are rice-rice continuous cultivation. Farmers try to grow rice more than 2 crops/year. Nowadays there are no break even data. The aim of this research to compare economic data between 2 crops/year and 3 crops/year rice cropping system. Experiments were conducted in farmer’s field at Lumlukka district Pathum Thani province in 2011. There were 3 experiments : using the same variety, changed variety every season and changed variety every season with short duration rice variety in the rice cropping system. Each experiment consisted of 2 treatment: 2 crops/year and 3 crops/year rice cropping system. The result shown that 2 crops/year rice cropping system gave lower total yield and income than growing rice 3 crops/year cropping system but gave higher profit in using the same variety, changed variety every season and changed variety every season with short duration rice variety cropping system
