The main source of energy in the nearest future will come from fossil fuels. Increasing demands on environmentally friendly energy conversion implies that pollutants, such as CO and NOx, need to be reduced. This project aims to investigate recent developments in combustion modeling and turbulence modeling in the context of engineering type Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis tools, applied to the main problem area of swirl-stabilized flexi-fuel flames. To perform a CFD simulation of reacting flows, kinetic information needs to be provided to the CFD code.
