The aim of this work has been to explore the use of microemulsions as reaction media for organic synthesis. Another important aim has been to improve the understanding of the reaction kinetics and the mechanism of the reaction in this type of surfactant system. <p />Three different types of reactions have been investigated in this work, which has been performed mainly with nonionic microemulsions. As expected, the reactions studied were much faster in a microemulsion compared to the same reactions performed in a corresponding two-phase system.
