The Climate Study of Corporal Punishment in Schools in Japan : Comparing Views on Human Nature and Educational Thought between Rice Crop Agricultural Nations and Pasturage Nations

Although corporal punishment at schools is prohibited in Japan, incidents involving corporal punishments persist unabated. The author wonders whether the frequent occurrences of such incidents are due to the specific nature of human beings or the cultural factors Japanese schools have. This study aims to explore the factors corporal punishments are arisen from. To achieve this, this study compares the views on human nature and education found in rice crop agricultural nations and pasturage nations. This study proposes some solutions to abolish corporal punishment at schools
