In suspended blue mussel (Mytilus edulis) culture, the link between sock spacingand mussel performance on a longline system has never been experimentallydemonstrated. Therefore, the objective of this trial was to compare productivity ofmussel socks spaced (sock spacing treatments [Tx]) 10 cm, 20 cm, 40 cm, 60 cm and 80cm apart on a longline. A large-scale experiment was conducted in distinct leases ofTracadie Bay, PEI over a one-year production cycle.
