This is the first in a series of papers documenting the marine algae from some islands of the Sulu Sea. A historical sketch of the scientific explorations in the Sulu Sea is presented with emphasis on marine algal researches. The present report lists 19 additional species of marine algae for the Tubbataha Reefs and 18 species collected from nearby Jessie Beazley Reef, including three species reported for the first time from Philippine marine waters. A revised checklist of the marine algae of the Tubbataha Reefs is presented using currently accepted nomenclature and classification.TR: CS0511573Source type: Electronic(1
