The oxygen consumption rates of three species of pleuronectids, the yellowtail flounder, Pleuronectes ferrugineus (Storer), the winter flounder, Pleuronectes americanus (Walbaum), and the American plaice, Hippoglossoides platessoides (Fabricius), were examined under simulated, land-based, aquaculture conditions. Routine oxygen consumption (ROC) rates for groups of each species were measured simultaneously using single-pass, flow-through respirometry. This study was conducted over three seasons at temperatures from 2 degrees C to 14 degrees C.
