The Development of Market Socialism Economic Theory in China

This Paper deals with the development of market socialism economic theory in China. The data reveals that the share of privately owned enterprises has been rapidly increasing in comparison with that of state enterprises in the period of 1983-2004, both in industrial production and in the number of employees. Among several reasons of this structural change in the contemporary China\u27s economy, the paper emphasizes the role of the modifications and changes of political agendas and reforms. Furthermore, these policy changes had a sometimes subtle but profound, fundamental philosophical root in the market socialism economic theory. This theory is anticipated to evolve continually for the years to come in the spheres of ownership and management systems of China\u27s enterprises
