Allergic diseases such as atopic eczema (AE) and asthma are chronic inflammatory disorders in which the regulation of the immune system is altered, in concert with disease-specific defects in target organs. Their inception requires gene-environment interactions but the molecular mechanisms contributing to the pathogenesis remain unclear.
