Estudiamos la colonia de pingüinos de Magallanes (Spheniscus magellanicus) de Cabo Vírgenes, Provincia de Santa Cruz (520 22' S, 680 24' W). Para el estudio de su biología reproductiva se trabajó en el área durante tres temporadas (1989/90, 1990/91 Y 1991/92). En dichas temporadas y en las tres siguientes (1992/93, 1993/94 Y 1994/95) se obtuvo la información acerca de la tendencia poblacional de dicha colonia. Se realizó un seguimiento de aproximadamente 160 nidos activos por temporada. Los mismos fueron seguidos desde la postura de los huevos (octubre) hasta la independencia de los pichones (fines de enero).
