La langosta de agua dulce Cherax quadricarinatus (Crustacea, Decapoda, Parastacidae), originaria de los ríos del norte de Australia, ofrece grandes ventajas para la cría comercial, siendo cultivada en varios países del mundo. En Argentina se la cultiva desde hace algunas décadas, si bien no posee un clima óptimo para su cría, por lo cual se hace necesario desarrollar estrategias compensatorias que maximicen la producción en criadero.
