UnrestrictedCambrian rocks record the morphological and behavioral diversification of early metazoans. Bioturbation was predominantly bedding-parallel during the Early Cambrian due to a combination of evolutionary and ecological factors. Consequently, trace fossils are typically preserved on bedding planes in Lower Cambrian siliciclastic strata.
