In 1945, The United Union of Evangelical Christians (EC) and Evangelical Christian Baptists (ECB) published the first issue of the Brotherly Herland. Iakov Ivanovich Zhydkov, chairman of the national (USSR) Union of Evangelical Christians and Baptists, became the chief editor. The editorial committee consisted of M.I. Golyaev, M.A. Orlov, and Alexander Vasi'yevich Karev. The leadership of the NUECB (all-National Union of Evangelical Christian Baptists) set the main task of the journal to form "Unity" in the midst of protestant churches of the moderate type.
